Tammy Blyan

About Me

My name is Tammy Blyan (she/her). I have been a guest in Treaty 6 territory for more than 20 years. I was born to Treaty 8, Sucker Creek First Nation. I grew up in a small town, Joussard, Alberta which is where many of my family members still reside. I was born to Duane Cunningham of Joussard, AB and Sherry Andrews of Faust, AB.

I hold a Master of Social Work degree with a clinical specialization and a focus on trauma. I am registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers (#12093) and the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (#5400).

Sage Counselling and Wellness was born in 2021 as the result of an identified need for First Nations mental health support to be provided by First Nations mental health practitioners. I identify as an Indigenous Counsellor. This means that I have a relationship-based, holistic practice. I am currently working in collaboration with Cape Medical Clinic in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan to provide a space for both Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people to access multiple services in one location. While my practice operates from an Indigenous worldview, I provide services to both Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people. We are all related.
